What made you decide to pursue a career in the beauty industry?

I struggled with cystic and fungal acne for years. I had to go on medication to help with it but it made me feel bad about myself. Once i discovered skin care and face routines that worked for me it made me feel so much better and i want to be able to help people feel better too, but without medication like i had to do. emily

For many people, their hair is a defining feature that can make or break a bad day, I’ve always felt the state of my hair has a direct effect on my day to day life. I aspire to acquire the skills and technique to enhance such an important quality about someone and improve their confidence in any capacity. Lane

i chose the beauty industry because i’ve always loved the idea of helping people feel confident and being able to express themselves through there appearance. i also love the creativity that is involved and meeting new people! Rylee

I wanted to become a cosmetologist because I’ve always wanted to make people feel beautiful and more confident about themselves. I have always been intrigued with hair and want to know everything I can that comes with it! Sophie

What does your involvement look like in the industry now?

I love to give myself/family/friends little facials whenever they want. I’ll do their eyebrows, extractions, even nails if they need help. Emily

I have been cutting my bangs basically since I learned that scissors can cut hair. I wasn’t allowed to dye my hair until I left for college, but ever since then I haven’t been a natural dirty blonde. I regularly do a little research on techniques to further educate myself on how to properly do things, to the point where friends and family trust me enough to come close enough to their head with lightener and shears. Lane

What made you decide on Capitol Beauty School?

Capitol has great reviews and everyone there is super nice. Not to mention My esthetician went to capitol and highly recommended it so i mean- where else would i go?? Emily

I chose Capitol almost completely based on ‘word of mouth’ and the atmosphere I have experienced when I would come in for a cut or color. It really feels and looks like the instructors care, believes in their students, and really takes the time to teach each student all the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in this journey. Lane

i chose capitol because i love the variety of skills they have and they are very well educated! Rylee

I chose Capitol because the environment looks very positive and fun and something I will look forward to everyday. I also love how they help you get out into the industry after school is over and becoming your own stylist. Sophie

What is something that scares you, you want to overcome during school?

The confrontation with telling a client that i may not be able to do something for them. I know for me it’s a let down when i can’t get something done but ive also seen other have very poor reactions. Lashing out, getting angry, for example. It’s scary but it’s something u want to learn how to handle. Emily

I want to make sure I have a good understanding of how the color system works. Sophie

What are you looking forward to most when starting school?

I’m looking forward to learning more about what i can do for myself and others. I’m also looking forward to making new friends that will be in the same industry as me! Emily

i’m looking forward to meeting new people, learning about my skin and being able to help others feel confident. Rylee

What inspires and motivates you?

Watching videos of people getting facials and seeing the progress in their skin when they keep up with it. It’s amazing what three little steps can change for some people. Emily

My family and friends and my excitement of learning motivates and inspires me! Sophie
